Join park staff for a brief history of maple syruping then hike to Oxbow’s sugar bush as we demonstrate how we tap our sugar maples. This program ends with a small sample of Oxbow Parks’ maple syrup! Dress for the weather and expect mud.

Animals all have ways to survive winter. Some adaptations might be sleeping the whole winter, flying south to a warmer destination, or becoming dormant. This program discusses terms of hibernation, migration, dormant and active behaviors for animals to survive winter.

Build an American Kestrel Box

Learn about the natural history of the smallest falcon in Minnesota, the American Kestrel. Help improve population numbers for the Kestrel’s by constructing a nest box. A staff member will give instructions where to place the box for the best Kestrel habitat. Only 25 boxes ($5.00 each) are available, so call 775-2451 to reserve one soon! Ages 5 and up.
