William entered the world at 5:34am. There were no cries. There were no happy tears from the mom. The dad was unable to be in the OR.
But then I stopped, reflected on the fact that today just wasn’t a good day at work, and realized that for me, being a working mom makes me a better mom.
I was crushed. My entire body was numb. She got up and left the room, and there I sat, all alone in my paper gown on the cold examination table.
Each of these stages in mom-hood has it’s own unique challenges. Do what you can to take care of yourself in the craziness of mom life.
My husband and I don’t go on many dates. However, when we do, we try to find unique activities that aren’t the typical “dinner and a movie”.
Honestly, I’m not sure how I would have survived those first few months without my mom squad. Sometimes, you need another mom to “tell you like it is”.
There’s another woman in our life. She’s our daycare provider, and she loves our sons infinitely more than I could have dreamed.
Anxiety is not who I am; it’s something that I have. Taking care of me needs to be my top priority, so I can be there for my boys.
